Electric Bicycles Can Get More Women Riding Bikes

I read a recent report in the UK where it says men are 3 times more likely to commute to work on a bicycle. I'm confident in assuming the figures are similar here.

It made me think: Why is it that women are not as adventurous as men when it comes to cycling to work?

I came to the conclusion that there are two main reasons for this.

1. I think, in general, woman are probably more anxious than men regarding safety. They probably choose not to ride to work because it is not safe for them to do so. This will most likely be because of a lack of (or non-existent), bike paths from their home to their place of work.

2. The other reason, I think is that women are probably more anxious than men about the hills and the physical pain riding a bike has on their legs. This is where an electric bike can really be of use.

An e-bike gently expands the distance you can ride a bicycle as well as your strength. It allows you to go up hills and ride longer distances without getting tired. The little extra boost is just enough to get up steep hills or avoid dangerous traffic situations with more ease.

Simply put, the electric bike is a confidence booster, which can be important for female cyclists and encourage them to commute by bike to work.
